1978 Atlantic hurricane season

The 1978 atlantic Hurricane Season was slightly above Average in Terms of Number of named Storms. In all 11 tropical Cyclones were named and five of them became hurricanes two of the five became major Hurricanes. This was also the last atlantic Hurricane Season to have an all-female Naming List. The Season officially began on 1 June 1978 and ended on 30 november 1978. These Dates adopted by Convention denote the Period in each Year where most tropical Cyclogenesis occurs in the atlantic Basin. However at any Time of the Year the Formation of subtropical or tropical Cyclones is possible as shown by the Formation of an unnamed subtropical Storm on january 18.
