1996 North Indian Ocean cyclone season

The 1996 north indian Ocean Cyclone Season featured several deadly tropical Cyclones with over 2000 People killed during the Year. The indian meteorological Department the regional specialized meteorological Centre for the northern indian Ocean as recognized by the World meteorological Organisation issued Warnings for nine tropical Cyclones in the Region. The Storms were also tracked by the american-based Joint Typhoon warning Center on an unofficial Basis which observed one additional Storm. The Basin is divided between the Bay of Bengal off the east Coast of India and the arabian Sea off the West Coast. During the Year the Activity was affected by the Monsoon Season with most Storms occurring in June or after October.
